Fall Explodes in WNC
Posted: Oct 19, 2010 02:03 PM

Each morning, since October flipped it's page on the refrigerator, I have eagerly awakened to greet daybreak. Scurrying around getting kids ready for school, the critters fed, and out the door. Fall is the one time of year I can't be caught without my camera. So for the last 2 weeks it has been a race to get the kids where they need to be and still have some time to take in the unfolding of the masterpiece that has been dubbed "Leaf Season", before having to report to work here at TEO. I'm still not sold on the exact recipe for a good fall, low rainfall in summer, a few downpours in late Aug,Sept, etc. But whatever constitutes a "GOOD" fall, I'm pretty sure we are having one now! Maybe because I'm not "from" here I appreciate it so much more, having lived places that have zero fall! That being said, I've been here over 25 years now and this is one of the most colorful I have seen. Last weeks early trips were concentrated around Nantahala national forest, Rainbow Springs and the Standing Indian areas, This Saturday I focused my lens on the Cullasaja Gorge, and the Turtle pond areas. Absolutely Beautiful, I will have some links posted here soon to some of these photos. So for many of you who can't make it up this year enjoy. There is still vibrant colors around so it's not too late. Hope to see ya at the store if we can be of any help! Best lighting is in the early mornings and evenings and temps have been in the low 30's so dress warm.
